Leek

Welcome

A warm welcome to the website of Leek u3a. We hope that exploring it will encourage and motivate you to join our thriving and vibrant community. Leek u3a is one of the larger groups nationally, with about 1000 members.

What is the u3a?

Our motto is LEARN, LAUGH and LIVE. In Leek, members enjoy opportunities to gain new skills or knowledge, to socialise and to exercise. There are 80 or so groups, most of which meet weekly, ranging from arts and crafts to languages, music, games and sport – you can download the Groups Brochure for more information. Also, there are many trips, short courses, concerts and talks you can attend as a member.

Where is it?

Norton House (on the corner of Fynney Street and Southbank Street - Google Maps) is the nerve centre of Leek u3a, but we use several other venues, including church halls, the leisure centre and the Watson Centre, close to Norton House.

Who Can Join?

Anyone who is retired or semi-retired, no longer in full-time employment or bringing up a family, is welcome to join Leek u3a.

What Does it Cost?

There is an annual membership fee which for 2026 is set at £15, and a class fee for each session.

How Do I Join?

Membership forms are available in Norton House. A group leader or committee member can help you with this. Fill this in and place with a cheque or cash in the secure red box in the reception area. Norton House is on the corner of Fynney Street and Southbank Street (almost opposite Abi Premier Convenience Store). Otherwise, please contact the Membership Secretary.

Once you are a member, you can join as many groups as you want, provided there is space.

Please note that you must join Leek u3a in order to attend groups even if you are a member at another u3a, though we do offer a reduced annual subscription for those members. Details are on the application form.
